Dr. Stackhouse grew up in Michigan and received his undergraduate degree from Hope College, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He obtained his M.D. at the University of Michigan medical school with honors (AOA distinction). He then completed five years of postgraduate training as Chief Resident in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana.

During his residency training, Dr. Stackhouse received several Mario Manion Awards for distinguished clinical research. He is certified by the Board of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery and joined Bellingham Ear, Nose, Throat & Facial Plastic Surgery as a partner in 1992.

Dr. Stackhouse is currently on the Board of the Whatcom County Medical Society and has served on the cancer committee for the past 8 years. He is also a board member of the Bellingham Boys & Girls Club.

Dr. Stackhouse enjoys providing care to patients with a broad spectrum of ear, nose and throat disorders, and has developed a special interest in sinus/nasal surgery and thyroid/parathyroid procedures. He believes that patients should be well informed as to their treatment options and encourages them to participate in formulating their health care plan.

Dr. Stackhouse lives in Bellingham, Washington with his wife Barbara and their three children.
