Dr. Knops is an Honors Graduate from Pomona College, Claremont, California, and the Washington University (St. Louis) School of Medicine. Dr. Knops spent five years specializing in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at the Mayo Clinic. During that time, he trained in Facial and Plastic Surgery, and served as both Chief Resident and as Clinical Instructor at the Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Knops is board certified by the American Academy of Otolaryngology and currently serves on the board of the Bellingham Anesthesia and Surgical Consultants. He is a member of the American Board of Otolaryngology, the American Rhinologic Society, serves on numerous committees at St. Joseph Hospital and is a member of Rotary International.

Dr. Knops greatly enjoys informing and educating his patients about all medical and surgical options available to them. He believes that a strong patient-doctor partnership, and an informed patient, results in the optimum outcome for each individual. His area of interest includes modern minimally invasive endoscopic sinus surgery as well as functional and cosmetic rhinologic (nasal) surgeries. He also specializes in microscopic ear surgeries and laser techniques.

Dr. Knops lives in Bellingham with his wife Gail and their three children.
